Seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineer to assist in design, test, and analysis of optical and opto-mechanical systems for complex optical based medical devices. Responsibilities include working on all stages of product development, from research to post-release support, and ensuring compliance with medical device standards. The role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or in teams to deliver high-quality products.
Essential Job Functions
- Design and test opto-mechanical systems and laser components.
- Develop and test fiber optic delivery systems, assembly, and alignment fixtures.
- Modify existing test fixtures as needed for accurate data.
- Measure laser system performance metrics.
- Conduct life testing and provide design feedback.
- Assist with subsystem design and support manufacturing processes.
- Write procedures, Engineering Change Orders, and attend design reviews.
Knowledge/Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required; Advanced degree preferred
- Direct experience in opto-mechanical engineering in medical devices.
- Experience with hardware product development, opto-mechanical and laser systems, and FDA regulations.
- ZEMAX knowledge, basic machine shop skills, and project management experience preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; familiarity with Design for Excellence (DfX) or Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a plus.
